FindItBay
A useful idea comes first.
Our approach is to connect a real household need with practical buying criteria. The guide should help you decide whether you need to buy anything at all.
What a guide is—and what it is not
Our planning guides offer general ideas and comparison criteria. They are not product tests, professional installation instructions, or guarantees that a product will fit your circumstances.
What to check in a recommendation
- Does it solve the need described in the guide?
- Do the dimensions and intended use fit the space?
- Are material, care, and installation details clear?
- Is the retailer destination and region identified?
- Is any commercial relationship disclosed?
Evidence and hands-on use
We should describe a product as personally tested only when we can support that statement. Manufacturer specifications, retailer information, editorial judgment, and personal experience are different kinds of evidence and should be identified accurately.
Sources for free resources
We select relevant information from government organizations, reputable nonprofits, recognized universities and extension services, vetted research, and merchants with a verified FindItBay affiliation. A useful source must address the reader’s task; a recognizable name alone is not enough.
For research, we check the authors, publication date, methods, limitations, corrections and peer-review status. PubMed or PubMed Central indexing does not mean NIH endorses a finding. We identify arXiv and other preprints as preliminary unless peer review is independently verified. Research about a general topic is not automatically evidence that a particular product works.
Seasonal recommendations and merchant choices
We distinguish seasonal planning ideas from claims that something is currently trending. A trend label needs recent, relevant evidence and a review date. Product fit, specifications, regional availability and customer cost come before commission rates. Affiliate programs and terms can change; a merchant’s appearance in a partner directory does not establish a verified relationship.
AI-assisted work and illustrations
We may use AI to help draft, organize, or illustrate content. The original illustrations in these guides depict general room and project concepts; they are not photographs of products for sale. Product claims and commercial relationships still need human review.
